Muscle Testing

Muscle testing is a method we use to uncover hidden beliefs, feelings and emotions we hold about ourselves. As the response is coming from our Subconscious mind (inner child) which can’t lie, muscle testing has proved to be a valuable tool in uncovering our beliefs, emotions and feelings which we would otherwise not know we have. Once uncovered, we can then change them to our advantage, allowing us to move our lives on the way we want.

When you are muscle testing, you are seeking a ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ response to what beliefs, feelings and emotions you have on a given subject.

It is important when you muscle test to specify the belief, emotion or feeling in the present tense. For example, “I am fat”, “I am on my spiritual journey”, “Money is evil”, “I know what it feels like to love unconditionally”. This is because you want to know what your current beliefs, feelings and emotions are. This prevents any possibility of error or confusion. If you were to say “Am I fat?” your answer will not be based on a current belief, emotion or feeling and your response would not be reliable.

Muscle testing is a powerful tool and can reveal some astonishing results if used correctly.

For example dieting is now very common and many of us at some stage of our lives would like to shed a few pounds. However very few are successful and if they are, it is normally short lived and the pounds soon pile back on!

When I have muscle tested those in this situation using ‘I want to lose weight’ more often than not I get a response of ‘no’. This is one of the main reasons why so many people rarely loose weight and keep it off. Their belief is not aligned to losing weight.

If you find that after you have found a belief and alleviate it using ‘Tapping’ or Theta Healing’ you still aren’t having success, feeling positive or still feeling distress then the likelihood is that you haven’t uncovered the ‘bottom belief’. You can find some information on digging for a ‘bottom belief’ in the tapping article.

In these instances it may be difficult to relieve yourself from a belief, as it may be linked to a traumatic experience; a memory we would rather not relive or just because we simply don’t believe we hold such a belief and therefore won’t test for it. In these instances it can be difficult for the inexperienced to uncover the ‘bottom belief’.

If you feel you are in this situation then I suggest you seek advice from a practitioner for Theta Healing or EFT. They will be able to dig out your ‘bottom’ belief’ and rectify the situation.

You can contact a Theta Practitioner I highly recommend:

Before you start any muscle testing you should 'zip' yourself up. This is simply done by placing your hand, palm facing you about four to five inces away from your body at waist level or lower if comfortable. Now draw your hand up in front of you and over the top of your head as if doing up a big zip! and that's it!

Method of Muscle Testing for Beliefs – ONE

To test a belief, place the tip of your thumb against the tip of your third index finger (the one between your little and middle fingers). You can use your first index finger if that is easier. It doesn’t have to be the very tip it can be the first segments on each. This is actually better as you can apply more pressure.

Now, holding the two fingers in the manner described above, place the thumb and forefinger of your other hand between the ‘Loop’ that is formed. With the fingers that have created the loop, apply even pressure while repeating the word ‘yes’ try and prise open the ‘Loop’ with your thumb and forefinger. Then repeat this exercise using the word ‘no’ and see if you can feel a difference in pressure or strength between the two words.

For an example of this and other using the finger method watch the video below.

Now try this muscle test on the list of beliefs I have listed at the bottom of this document and see which are ‘True’ and which are ‘False’. I think you will be surprised!

Method of Muscle Testing for Beliefs – TWO

Stand upright, facing North if you know which direction that is. It doesn’t matter if you don’t. Whilst standing perfectly balanced repeat the word ‘yes’ and see if your body wants to sway in a particular direction, forward or backwards. Repeat this using the word ‘no’.

In the first muscle test method when you repeat the word ‘yes’ it should be harder to prise open your fingers, and the opposite when repeating the word ‘no’.

In the second muscle test you should feel yourself leaning or wanting to fall ‘forward’ when repeating the word ‘yes’ and backwards when repeating the word ‘no’.

In the first method the strength between ‘yes’ and ‘no’ might be slight so practise until you can easily feel the difference.

In the second method you may feel like you want to move in a particular direction very slightly. As you practise you will get to understand how your body reacts to a belief being true with a ‘yes’ or ‘no’.

With both these methods, always try and use a belief you know to be true or false to get you started. As I have mentioned in the note below, use a false name and then your actual name. This is a good way to start testing how your body reacts to your beliefs.

Excellent, give your self a pat on the back you now know how to muscle test on your beliefs!

What the video below which demonstrates muscle testing method two.

Now use either muscle test above and test one or all of the beliefs below.

Now, using the list below test and check to see which are ‘beliefs’ and which are not:

I hate myself
I am empty
I am alone
I am abused
I hate people
I am guilty
Healers are evil
Money is evil
I am a hermit
I am weak
I am fat
I am nothing
I am inadequate
I am sad
I am unworthy
Life is a struggle
I have to suffer
It’s wrong to be happy
Money corrupts
I have to work hard for every penny
I am depressed
I am a failure
I hate my body
God hates me
I am ugly

You can now use these methods to muscle test all sorts of beliefs. And practise as much as you can to find which method suits you.

To reiterate, when testing for beliefs and feelings always state them as though you have them. This produces either a 'yes' or 'no' response which is what you are trying to do. For example, 'I am weak', 'money corrupts', 'I know what it feels like to live without fear', ‘money is evil’, ‘I know what it feels like to be wealthy’.

If you have not already done so, you should read the article on ‘Tapping’ to see how you can dig for ‘Bottom Beliefs. These are the beliefs that prop up others. By finding these and removing them you can save yourself a lot of time.

If you are going to use these muscle tests on other beliefs then you must avoid using words like “don’t”, “isn’t” and “can’t”. This is because the Subconscious mind doesn’t understand or accept such words.

Muscle testing for Theta Healing

If you are using Theta Healing to change a belief then you need to test your belief again once you have uncovered it.

This is because beliefs can be held on one or more of four belief levels. The four belief levels are core, genetic, historical and soul.

The Core belief is one we are taught and accept in this life. It is held as energy in the frontal lobe of the brain, at the top of the forehead.

Genetic beliefs are those carried over from our ancestors or which are being added to the genes in this life. These beliefs are stored in the Master Cell located in Pineal Gland. The Pineal Gland is located directly through the top of the head behind the third eye. The Third eye is situated between the brows in the middle of the forehead.

Historical beliefs are from our past; deep genetic memories or a collective consciousness carried into the present. These beliefs are held in the aura field anywhere from the shoulders up above the head and sides at the back of the person spreading outwards several inches like a large halo.

Soul Level beliefs. This level is all that a person is. These are held in the area of the heart Chakra moving outwards.

If you found you had a belief ‘I hate myself’ you now need to find out on which belief level or levels it is being held.

All that needs to be done is to test the belief as above, modifying the belief statement to ‘I hate myself on the core level’, ‘I hate myself on the historical level’ etc….If this doesn’t get any results then try using ‘The program of “I Hate myself” is on the core level’ etc.

You may find that you a “dual” belief. You may believe you’re fat and at the same time slim. Leave the positive one in place and replace the negative program. Being rich and poor is a common one.

There may be instances where an ailment may be serving you. In these cases test for “my depression is serving me”, “My back problem is serving me”. In these instances you need to “dig” out what that hidden programme is and what the deepest programme is. This is when a practitioner is best suited as they will have the experience to dig and find the “deepest programme” or “bottom belief” that is serving you.

Always make a note of the belief and which level or levels it is held on. One belief can be held on one, two, three or all four levels, so should be tested on all four. This will ensure the removal and replacement of a belief you want.

Please NOTE: These muscle tests can give errors if you are dehydrated. You can recover from this by drinking water or by rubbing your back just above the waist line where your kidneys are. Also, double check if you are responding correctly by saying ‘my name is’ and use an incorrect name and then try again using your real name. It is good practice to use the ‘yes’, ‘no’ and ‘my name is’ to ensure you are testing correctly. Obviously if you are dehydrated you will get a false result so follow the above to rectify this.

If you are working through a list of several beliefs and / or feelings, then it is always good practice to stop and check after five or six to see if you have become dehydrated. It is not uncommon to dehydrate during muscle testing. Always use the ‘double check’ of ‘Yes’, ‘No’ and ‘My name is….’.

Make a note of the beliefs you have tested and the response you get so you can deal with them correctly. You don’t want to change beliefs that work in your favour!

If you get a response ‘No’ for ‘I hate money’ then you would not want to change it if you are seeking to attract money in your life!

To reiterate, if we are using method one and you say “I am fat’ and your fingers open easily, then it isn’t a belief. With method two your body will move backwards. If it were ‘true’ then the opposite will happen; your fingers will be difficult to prise open with method one and you will sway forward with method two indicating you believe you are fat.
